Queenie is staying in Ireland!!! Hooray!!! It took all the way until the end to reveal the best news of the whole book!!!
As you know from my last review, I had become quite tired of Georgie’s bumbling maid, Queenie. She was fine for about three books after Georgie hired her, but has since gotten repetitive and bothersome as a character. At the end of this book, she’s planning on staying on with one of Darcy’s relatives in Ireland in order to learn how to run a house. I am relieved.
Anyways, on to the rest of Crowned and Dangerous. Bowen introduces Georgie and readers to Ireland in this novel, as she goes to aid Darcy in clearing his father’s name of murder. A rich American (who bought the O’Mara’s land, hired his father, then wrongly fired him) was murdered, and all the evidence points to the senior O’Mara as the culprit. After being estranged from his father for some time, Darcy has a hard time getting him to talk about the night of the murder, let alone heal some of their old rifts.
We are also introduced to Zou Zou, a princess with a turbulent past. She flies – herself – up to aid Darcy and Georgie in his father’s time of crisis, providing readers with a bit of comic relief and our heroes with some funds. She plays a fairly significant role in this story but I’m not going to give away all the good stuff!
All-in-all, this was another entertaining read from Bowen, and we get to know Darcy a bit better, which is a plus for all of us as he’s pretty mysterious. I am intrigued to see what mess Georgie will get herself into next and I look forward to reading about her wedding. Oh, yes, there will be a wedding.
